I've always dabbled with cameras. I enjoy being out in nature, taking in the dawn of a new day, seeing the setting sun on the old one, exploring woodlands, and watching the stars emerge in the night sky.
I started out doing aviation photography in the early 1990s with a Minolta 5xi SLR. A trip round the world trip in 2002-03 saw a progression into landscape photography. I moved into digital with the purchase of a compact Olympus C-750UZ camera, then on to a cropped-sensor Nikon D5200 DSLR in 2013. Photography was an occasional endeavour. The trials of 2020 changed all that, as it became a serious and fulfilling hobby, including an enjoyable foray into astrophotography.
In 2022 my photographic journey completed the circle back to full frame photography with the acquisition of the Nikon Z7ii and Z-mount lenses which I use today.
The excitement of waiting for developed prints to be delivered in my early film days has now been replaced by the challenges and learning involved in the modern art of processing digital RAW files. A slow burn process that nonetheless gives me great pleasure.
